On Saturday, 27 September, our committee gathered for a dynamic Strategy Day. An immersive workshop facilitated by Gurdwara Aid to fast-track our 10-year vision and plan.

Over fresh chai and nibbles, breakout groups jumped into hands-on brainstorming, mapping out priorities for governance, community engagement, infrastructure and more.

Expert speakers from Gurdwara Aid shared sharp decision-making frameworks, while a lively Q&A panel addressed key areas; from navigating Gift Aid to safeguarding best practice. We emerged with:

• A unified set of long-term goals and phased milestones
• Fresh ideas for youth engagement, digital outreach and volunteer growth
• Clear practical actions to achieve our ambition

Beyond strategy, the day was a chance to deepen trust and camaraderie. Committee members praised the spirit of collaboration “I’ve never left a meeting so energised,” remarked one member. Gurdwara Aid acknowledged that we were the first Gurdwara to run such a collaborative day, our teamwork and empathy will be a model for many UK Gurdwara’s.
